Following the recent trend of obsolete I.T. equipment of special interest to vintage computer and game machine fans I present this Interlink Durapoint mouse for your delight and delectation.

The term "mouse" is being used here in the loosest of meanings, the cursor is moved by a raised rubber button, much like a jumbo version of the TrackPoint button found on Leonovo ThinkPads and some of the classic Toshiba business laptops.

Framed in durable stainless steel, with a weighted base, it is the HumVee of the mouse World. It has a captive cable with a 9 way D-type Serial connection, but comes with a handy ps/2 adapter and a Belkin USB adapter. These units have been used with a variety of legacy operating systems; Win 98, ME, 2000, XP, Vista and 7. The Belkin adapter will work with most modern equipment, normally no drivers are required.

For Sale - Vantage VQS04C Video Switcher Multiplexer - £49

Here is another item that could be of interest to retro computer game fans. This is a composite video switcher and multiplexer unit. These units were typically used to take the outputs of security cameras and combine them into single image for staff to view live and simultaneously recording it for evidence.
However we used this device at live events to monitor multiple camera feeds on a single large screen prior to feeding our vision mixer.

Sold - Sony PVM-9040ME Trinitron CRT Field Monitor - £49

Here is another item that should be of interest to retro computer game fans. This is a high quality Sony broadcast monitor with both composite and s-video inputs. Sony was legendary for the clear and accurate images of its unique Trinitron design of cathode ray tube. These little monitors were once a common sight at events, often used to monitor cameras or recorder feeds. Some variants could even be run off battery packs for field recording and electronic news gathering purposes.

Sold - Vista 14" CRT Monitor Screens - £29 each

Here are another couple of items that should be of interest to retro computer game fans. They are a pair of Vista brand 4:3 aspect ratio CRT video monitor screens with composite inputs. Whilst not a well known brand, the Vista name is associated with video editing tasks. In fact these were originally from a broadcast environment; although we used them for viewing the stage from backstage at shows.

They are 4:3 aspect ratio screens in PAL (UK) format only. There are picture controls, located beneath a flap on the front, to adjust; brightness and contrast, etc. There are further recessed controls on the rear to adjust horizontal hold, focus, etc.

The outer casing is made from enamelled black steel, with a plated chassis; all designed to provide years of rock solid service with minimal maintenance.
For CRT, or Cathode Ray Tubes to use their full name, these are quite shallow units, so will take up less space than typical designs. Being a 14" screen they are quite small overall, which will be a better option for anyone who only has bedroom space for their retro game collection.

These monitors are still in good working condition, but there are chips and scratches in the finish comensurate with their use in a commercial environment. I have touched the paintwork in for purley cosmetic reasons.

Following the theme of re-cycling older technology for retro video games fans, a couple of these LG 42" plasma screens are now available for sale.

They have inputs for VGA and DVI signals; plus there is also an additional expansion box with 2 Scart inputs and an adapter for composite video input on a RCA phono cable. There is also an aerial input for the built in TV tuner, but I believe it is only for analogue broadcasts which were switched off around 2012.

The entire unit is of substantial construction and is much heavier than the modern plastic units. The screen is glass fronted, which I always thought was a classy look. It has a built in table stand which can be unscrewed for wall mounting.

It is in good condition, with some light scratches and wear on the case, consistent with its use in a commercial environment.

I have recently seen a lot of love amongst retro video games fans for old Sony Trinitron CRT monitors and thought this similar item might be of interest. It is an Albiral CRT 4:3 aspect video monitor screen with composite, s-video and RGBS inputs. Whilst not a well known brand, Albiral have been producing high end industrial and commercial monitors for decades, rugged kit designed to provide years of rock solid service with minimal maintenance.

Of special interest to vintage computer and retro game lovers; it not only has inputs for composite video and S-video, but also RGBS (Red, Green, Blue & Sync). I don't recall ever using the RGBS inputs, I assume they will work with standard UK PAL and quite possibly sync to some of the lower resolution VGA (640x480) frequencies too.

Sold - Mackie SA1521 Active 15" 2-way Speakers - £599 the pair

For sale are 2 Mackie SA1521 Active 15" 2-way Speakers, available as a matched pair, complete with custom padded covers.
They have been protected by soft covers from new and used mainly for conference or awards use, plus the odd private party. They are in near mint condition and have proved to be reliable units, offering an impressive, room filling output for their size. Yet they are small enough to fit in a hatchback car with space to spare and can be lifted by a single person (but watch your back).

Each speaker contains a 500W amplifier and boasts a 133dB output level. They can be pole or subwoofer mounted, but for safety reasons will require heavy duty stands with a wide footprint. Please ask about suitable stands if you don't already own them.

The front grill is made of a very sturdy steel construction. And just like a touring cabinet, the trapezoid shaped cabinet is made from marine plywood, not the flimsy moulded plastic found on typical budget units.

Review:

Pair these with a set of Mackie Subs and you can handle almost any room. They are a little heavy, but remember the amps are built in! They sound just as good at the back of the room as they do in the front. Can easily handle a small outdoor event (using only one pair). If you need to do a large venue, they daisy chain together with no loss of signal. I've owned these for over five months with no trouble at all (play every weekend). Would like to hit a couple week long gigs to see how they holdup (one year warranty). Sound wise...I haven't heard anything better...I've used Peavey/JBL/EV and a few lesser brands, the Mackies are every bit as good and somewhat better than all. Crisp Highs, Excellent Mids and Deep Lows They are a little expensive for small working bands, but at least you don't have to buy an amp.

Although they aren't exactly a household name Interspace Industries, a small UK based company, has a worldwide following within the events and broadcast TV industries. This reputation is built upon simple, usable practical features and industrial levels of reliability.

For sale - Interspace Combo Cue 2 cue light - £50 each

The Combo Cue 2 not only has a visual display of "Next" and "Back" cues received; but it also has a balanced line level audio / headphones output on a 1/4" socket.
The headphones output is great if you need to follow remote show cues when the visual display is out of your sight line; such as when you have to watch computer screens, or perhaps taking a quick nap to "rest your eyes"! These tones can be adjusted internally with dip switches to different sounds.

The line level output can also be fed into a show communications headset system, so that many technologists can follow the same timing cues from a single source on stage.
We also found that the balanced audio output was great to feed into a workshop pa system, as a high tech door bell system which could be boosted to high levels and heard over any other noises.

Two remote control handsets are included, these run on a single PP3 9 Volt battery and would give around 5 years use.

There is a discrete laptop style power supply included that uses a regular IEC 230 Volt mains lead. A standard UK mains plug is fitted, it can be easily and cheaply swapped for Schuco or other European mains connectors.

This flight case used to house a D.J. mixer unit, the dimensions are; 51cm x 43cm x 19cm, a neat size that will fit into the smallest of boot spaces. The case is constructed from plywood covered in stucco pattern aluminium.

Sold - Soundcraft PowerStation Mixer Amplifier - £199

This great Soundcraft PowerStation powered mixer amplifier is now for sale. This was my go to piece of equipment for many years and was used at many events from small private meetings right up to full scale conferences for hundreds of delegates. This model was a common model for many audio visual hire companies thanks to its great performance and flexibility. It has; 8 mic / line inputs, 2 mono/stereo line inputs, aux sends and a versatile, Lexicon branded, effects unit. The amplifier section is capable of providing 265W per channel into 4 Ohms, I can't think of a single situation where it ever lacked for power.

For sale - Soundcraft PowerStation - £199

It is a good unit for medium sized conferences, for audiences of around 200, possibly even up to 500 with two pairs of speakers. It would also be good for any band with some 12" or 15" speakers to play backing tracks, keyboards and vocals through.

The Soundcraft website has the following to say about the PowerStation:

Incorporates circuit technology identical to that used on some of the most sophisticated Soundcraft consoles. The mono input channels are able to accept a wide range of Microphone and Line level signals from separate input sockets. Every mono channel features wide range gain control, 3-band Equalisation with swept Mid section, plus a Hi-Pass Filter, 2 Auxiliary Sends, one of which may be switched to a dedicated FX bus to feed the built-in Lexicon Effects Controller, PFL(Pre Fade Listen) and panning to a Stereo Bus. Sold - Soundcraft PowerStation 350 Mixer Amplifier - £150

This great Soundcraft PowerStation 350 powered mixer amplifier is for sale. I bought it as a standby unit to cover for equipment failures and to keep handy for use at smaller events. This model was the baby of the Soundcraft PowerStation range, even so, it still has; 6 mic / line inputs, 2 mono/stereo line inputs, aux sends and a versatile, Lexicon branded, effects unit. The amplifier section is capable of providing 175W per channel into 4 Ohms.

For sale - Soundcraft PowerStation 350 - £150

It is a good unit for smaller conferences, for audiences of around 100, possibly even up to 250 with two pairs of speakers. It would also be good for a smaller band or duo with some 12" or 15" speakers to play backing tracks and vocals.

The Soundcraft website has the following to say about the PowerStation 350:

Powered mixers fulfil a widespread need for simple integrated tools that remove much of the hassle involved in setting up a sound system, whether it be a permanent or temporary installation. The inclusion of amplification means that you can plug speakers straight into the mixer, without worrying about finding an external power amp. But a live mixer will also often include additional features that are usually performed by external processors - such as reverb and delay processing, or graphics EQ.

They proved to be easy to set, reliable units, providing excellent volume levelling for digital recordings, without any nasty peaking, whether through sudden bursts of applause, or just plain bad mic technique.

For sale are 2 Mackie SWA1501 active subwoofers, available as a matched pair, complete with  custom padded covers.

They have been protected by soft covers from new and used exclusively for conference or awards use. They are in near mint condition and have proved to be reliable units, offering an impressive, trouser flapping sub bass output for their size. Yet they are small enough to fit in a hatchback car with space to spare and can be lifted by a single person (but watch your back).

These Mackie 1501 active subwoofers are from era when units were still made in Italy, before manufacturing shifted to China. Many believe that this was a golden era for Mackie and quality control suffered on the later units.

They have been custom flight cased from new and used exclusively for conference or awards use, they are in near mint condition and have proved to be very reliable, requiring little more than the occasional lamp change.

Some of the foam inside the flight cases is getting a little worn but otherwise you are getting pristine kit for Cash Converter prices. Hanging brackets and a safety wire are included. The mains cord is terminated with a 16 amp cee-form connector, but a 13 amp mains plug to cee-form adaptor will also be included.
