Three of these Samson S700 high quality balanced audio power amplifiers have recently come up for sale. These were our "go to" solution for driving arrays of speakers at larger events, such as awards ceremonies, that required crystal clear sound at high volume levels.

It has the capability for both balanced and unbalanced inputs on XLR and 1/4" combi sockets. Line level loop through on XLR sockets is provided. The amplifier can be run in stereo; parallel or bridged modes. Output can be via binding post or Speakon connectors.
It is a good unit for presentations, awards ceremonies, or live music for audiences of up to 500.

These units have not had a great deal of use and were cased from new. They are still in excellent electrical condition, all the attenuator knobs turn freely without crackles, all the knobs are present, the panel work is clean and shows only very light "rack rash".

Sold - Mackie SA1521 Active 15" 2-way Speakers - £599 the pair

For sale are 2 Mackie SA1521 Active 15" 2-way Speakers, available as a matched pair, complete with custom padded covers.
They have been protected by soft covers from new and used mainly for conference or awards use, plus the odd private party. They are in near mint condition and have proved to be reliable units, offering an impressive, room filling output for their size. Yet they are small enough to fit in a hatchback car with space to spare and can be lifted by a single person (but watch your back).

Each speaker contains a 500W amplifier and boasts a 133dB output level. They can be pole or subwoofer mounted, but for safety reasons will require heavy duty stands with a wide footprint. Please ask about suitable stands if you don't already own them.

Mackie SA1521 speakers - in near mint condition

Review:

Pair these with a set of Mackie Subs and you can handle almost any room. They are a little heavy, but remember the amps are built in! They sound just as good at the back of the room as they do in the front. Can easily handle a small outdoor event (using only one pair). If you need to do a large venue, they daisy chain together with no loss of signal. I've owned these for over five months with no trouble at all (play every weekend). Would like to hit a couple week long gigs to see how they holdup (one year warranty). Sound wise...I haven't heard anything better...I've used Peavey/JBL/EV and a few lesser brands, the Mackies are every bit as good and somewhat better than all. Crisp Highs, Excellent Mids and Deep Lows They are a little expensive for small working bands, but at least you don't have to buy an amp.

Sold - Soundcraft PowerStation Mixer Amplifier - £199

This great Soundcraft PowerStation powered mixer amplifier is now for sale. This was my go to piece of equipment for many years and was used at many events from small private meetings right up to full scale conferences for hundreds of delegates. This model was a common model for many audio visual hire companies thanks to its great performance and flexibility. It has; 8 mic / line inputs, 2 mono/stereo line inputs, aux sends and a versatile, Lexicon branded, effects unit. The amplifier section is capable of providing 265W per channel into 4 Ohms, I can't think of a single situation where it ever lacked for power.

For sale - Soundcraft PowerStation - £199

It is a good unit for medium sized conferences, for audiences of around 200, possibly even up to 500 with two pairs of speakers. It would also be good for any band with some 12" or 15" speakers to play backing tracks, keyboards and vocals through.

The Soundcraft website has the following to say about the PowerStation:

Incorporates circuit technology identical to that used on some of the most sophisticated Soundcraft consoles. The mono input channels are able to accept a wide range of Microphone and Line level signals from separate input sockets. Every mono channel features wide range gain control, 3-band Equalisation with swept Mid section, plus a Hi-Pass Filter, 2 Auxiliary Sends, one of which may be switched to a dedicated FX bus to feed the built-in Lexicon Effects Controller, PFL(Pre Fade Listen) and panning to a Stereo Bus. This great Soundcraft PowerStation 350 powered mixer amplifier is for sale. I bought it as a standby unit to cover for equipment failures and to keep handy for use at smaller events. This model was the baby of the Soundcraft PowerStation range, even so, it still has; 6 mic / line inputs, 2 mono/stereo line inputs, aux sends and a versatile, Lexicon branded, effects unit. The amplifier section is capable of providing 175W per channel into 4 Ohms.

For sale - Soundcraft PowerStation 350 - £150

It is a good unit for smaller conferences, for audiences of around 100, possibly even up to 250 with two pairs of speakers. It would also be good for a smaller band or duo with some 12" or 15" speakers to play backing tracks and vocals.

The Soundcraft website has the following to say about the PowerStation 350:

Powered mixers fulfil a widespread need for simple integrated tools that remove much of the hassle involved in setting up a sound system, whether it be a permanent or temporary installation. The inclusion of amplification means that you can plug speakers straight into the mixer, without worrying about finding an external power amp. These Mackie 1501 active subwoofers are from era when units were still made in Italy, before manufacturing shifted to China. Many believe that this was a golden era for Mackie and quality control suffered on the later units.

A pair of Shure SCM810E intelligent mixers have become available for sale following an upgrade.

The Shure Model SCM810/E is an eight-channel automatic microphone mixer designed for use in sound reinforcement, audio recording, and broadcast applications, it dramatically improves audio quality in any application where multiple microphones are required. Any low-impedance dynamic or condenser microphone (including wireless) can be used with the SCM810/E.

Each input channel has a two-band equaliser which reduces unwanted low-frequency audio pickup and makes different microphone types; lavalieres, boundary and handheld sound similar.

There is a very effective limiter on the master output that makes getting great digital recordings a breeze; without any nasty peaking whether through sudden bursts of applause, or just plain bad mic technique. This model was my go to solution for recording round table discussions and teleconference sessions. I have heard of other engineers using these for broadcast TV panel & quiz shows.

The Shure Model SCM810/E is designed principally for installed use, to save rack space it uses Phoenix connectors for audio inputs/outputs. For a more mobile rack friendly format I made up 1U high XLR connector panels and these will be included in the sale.

There are no known issues with these units, they are in full working condition and look very presentable. There may be the odd bit of "rack rash" on the top and bottom. It looks like someone with sweaty hands has left their fingerprints on the galvanised top.

Sold - Peavey SP2 Touring Speakers - £60 pair

This pair of Peavey SP2 touring style speakers are an interesting blast from the past. They are large units, bulkier and a whole lot heavier compared to modern plastic flyweight designs. Quite literally, "they don't make em like they used to". Bear in mind that depending on your; age, physique and fitness they could be quite a struggle to lift on your own (do you even lift bro?). They will fit into a medium sized car, but you might struggle with a small city hatchback.

For sale - Peavey SP2 speakers - £60

The cabinet is constructed from plywood with a black wood stain type finish, this in my opinion is a more professional and preferable finish to carpet covered versions. They are still solid but could use a fresh coat of paint, one high frequency unit has a small chip missing from the horn flair.
The 15" Black Widow® drivers don't quite generate modern levels of bass and will rattle if pushed too hard. Don't be put off by the modest power handling specified for these speakers. They are from an age before the advent of the "Chinese Watt". They are modest long term average figures and not some fanciful peak amount that could only be generated for a matter of milliseconds.

Peavey SP2 - 150 Watts handling - not Chinese Watts !

We used them as workshop speakers for a number of years and they are great for making some noise in a large space. They would be ideal in a permanent install in a bar or club, used either as full range unit or preferably with additional sub bass cabinets to provide an additional lower octave of tone.

They are priced at £60 for the pair, collection from South London is preferred, but pallet delivery would be possible (estimated £75), at the buyer's expense.

Sold - Samson TM300 Mixer Amplifier - £99

Four of these great little Samson TM300 powered mixer amplifiers have recently come up for sale. These provided a very handy "one box" solution for our sound needs at; exhibitions, smaller seminars and the break out rooms of large events.

It has; 6 mic / line inputs, 2 auxiliary line inputs, aux sends and an effects unit. The amplifier section is capable of providing 150W per channel into 4 Ohms.

It is a good unit for small conferences, for audiences of say around 100, although we used it successfully for 250 by using two pairs of speakers. It would also be good for any band with some 12" or 15" speakers to play vocals, backing tracks and keyboards etc. through.

The Samson website has the following to say about the Samson TM300:

Offering remarkable versatility for the price, the TM300 powered mixer is ideal for all kinds of live reinforcement jobs. It is equipped with six channels of mixing, 150 watts per side of power and on-board digital effects. Tone shaping is provided by 3-band channel EQ and a dual 7-band master graphic EQ.

These units have not had a great deal of use and were cased from new. They are still in excellent electrical condition, all the faders slide freely without crackles, all the knobs are present and work smoothly.

Following a recent switch from passive to active speakers there is now an overstock of speaker cabling with approximately 100 leads of different lengths to clear.

These 20m XLR speaker cables are constructed with top quality Proel 1.5 mm multi wire rubberised  cable and feature genuine Neutrik XLR male and female connectors at each end.

Although XLR connectors are normally associated with microphone cabling, they were also used for professional speaker cabling prior to the invention of proprietary connectors such as the Neutrik Speakon. A good example would be the Bose 802 loud speaker, which came with both 1/4" and XLR connections on its rear panel. Unlike the 1/4" jack sockets found on cheap disco speakers and guitar rigs, XLR connectors offer a much better electric connection for high current use. They are also easily extended for temporary installations in large buildings.

They have been thoroughly cleaned, inspected and tested for continuity. They are in excellent condition and are priced individually at £17.50, the price even includes delivery within the UK.
